Kaizen
Kaizen practices
are an important part of Aeroteam's work culture. The major
elements of Kaizen currently in practice and their benefits
are:
Inventory Turns/Reduced
Work-In-Process (WIP): By ordering and receiving
raw materials on a "pull" basis, we are able
to accomplish multiple inventory turns from raw stock
to finished product. Thus we have less money tied up
in the inventory, and can increase our cash flow. It
also allows us to offer more competitive pricing to
our LTA customers.
Chuka-Chuka:
Our in-house fixturing capabilities are dedicated to
product flow as we take advantage of every opportunity
to orient the part for the following process steps.
When possible, parts are fixtured so that the production
process is not interrupted. This allows part loading
times to be absorbed inside the run time. It increases
productivity and helps us to reduce labor costs.
Process Mapping:
By mapping the product flow through its entire process
from start to finish, we can locate equipment in the
optimum location to reduce travel time between operations.
This also allows us to have dedicated staging areas
for raw material and perishable tooling.
Manpower Utilization:
We have operators tackling multiple machines and multiple
operations simultaneously.
